Preventative Care in our Virginia Beach Dental Office
We offer general dental treatments to keep patients healthy and prevent oral health issues. At routine appointments, we do cleanings to remove bacteria from teeth and gums. Our services include root canals, fillings, custom mouthguards, emergency care, family dental services, sedation dentistry, tooth removal, and more.
Dental Fillings
We offer many types of dental fillings, and our dentist will choose the best one for you after checking your cavity. Fillings reduce the risk of more decay and help restore the look and function of your tooth by sealing the decayed area.
Fillings are not permanent and you may need to replace them over time because of normal wear. Maintain good oral hygiene after your filling to keep bacteria and plaque away and prevent more decay or damage. View our Dental Fillings page for more.
Custom Mouthguard
Our custom-made sports mouthguards protect teeth from chips, cracks, and other breaks in the enamel. Unlike store-bought mouthguards, our professional ones fit better and are more comfortable. Patients don’t need to worry about custom mouthguards falling out because they fit their mouths perfectly. To know more, see Custom Mouthguards.
Emergency Dentistry
Our team is ready to help with any dental emergency you have. By contacting us right away, we can prioritize your case and provide the care you need to fix the issue. Whether you have a broken filling causing sensitivity or severe tooth pain that needs immediate attention, we are here to help!
Don’t delay treatment for a dental emergency. Prompt care can prevent further problems and ensure the best outcome for your oral health. To get to know what emergencies are, see Emergency Dentistry.
Family Dentistry
Coastal General Dentistry is a family dental practice that helps patients of all ages. We encourage parents to bring their children to regular dental visits so they can adjust to the dental setting. Our team continues to provide care as patients grow. Fillings, root canals, and other treatments help patients with injured or infected teeth.
To learn more about our family care, see Family Dentistry.
Dental Sedation
We offer several sedation options for patients with anxiety or for long, complex procedures. Nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation, and IV sedation help relax patients during treatment. Sedation is a safe way for our patients to have dental procedures without stress or pain.
When given by qualified professionals, sedation dentistry is safe and works well for most people. Our dentists carefully check each patient’s medical history to decide which type of sedation is best for them. With these options, we can make dental visits more comfortable for patients who might otherwise feel anxious or in pain. To learn more, see Sedation Dentistry.
Tooth Extractions
If your wisdom teeth are coming in or you have a severe dental infection, we may need to remove the problem teeth. Tooth extractions can relieve pain and discomfort. Removing a severely decayed or infected tooth can stop constant pain and allow proper healing. Also, extracting a tooth that causes overcrowding or misalignment can improve your oral health and prevent future issues.
Though having a tooth pulled might seem scary, it can be very helpful. Our team ensures patients are comfortable during the extraction. We provide local anesthetic and offer sedation options to help with this. To learn more, see Tooth Extraction.
Regular Check-Ups and Dental Cleanings
Regular dental check-ups and cleanings are important for keeping your mouth healthy. At our Virginia Beach Dental Office, we recommend coming in twice a year. These visits help us catch problems early before they get worse. If we catch things early, it can save you from needing more complicated treatments, like root canals.
During a check-up, our dentists will thoroughly examine your mouth. We look for cavities, gum disease, and other issues that might affect your oral health. We also use digital X-rays to see your teeth and jaw more clearly, helping us spot problems that might not be obvious.
Cleanings are just as important as check-ups. Even if you brush and floss every day, plaque can still build up in spots that are hard to reach. Our hygienists use special tools to remove plaque and tartar, which helps prevent cavities and gum disease.
We also give you tips on how to take care of your teeth at home. Our team will show you the best ways to brush and floss and may suggest certain dental products to keep your mouth in good shape. Following this advice will keep your teeth and gums healthy between visits.
Regular check-ups also let us keep an eye on any dental work you’ve had done, like fillings, crowns, or root canals. We make sure these treatments are still working well and fix any issues right away.We want you to feel comfortable when you visit our dental office. If you or a loved one have dental anxiety or fear of the dentist, please contact us before your next appointment. Our friendly team will help you find ways to ease your fears so you can get the care you need.
